Enduring Understandings
Artists and designers develop excellence through practice and constructive critique, reflecting on, revising, and refining work over time. Visual imagery influences understanding of and responses to artistic work People gain insights into meanings of artworks by engaging in the process of art criticism People evaluate artwork based on various criteria What is it? The first step involves getting feedback from someone to evaluate what is working in your piece and what is not working. Once you have reviewed what feedback they gave, you will have to make decisions about what to change to improve your piece. What does it look like? Step 1: Put your work in your folder or storage space for a bit and move on to something else. When you come back to it with fresh eyes, you will know if it's ready to critique. Step 2/3: Have at least 2 people look at your work and give you feedback. Using the glow and grow sheet. One should be someone who isn't on your team and hasn't worked closely with you. Another should be a person who is experienced in your materials. The critique should happen in a quiet place with no distractions and nothing should be in your hands but the critique cheat sheet and the artwork. Fill out the critique form based on your conversations. NOT DURING THE CONVERSATION!! |
